ABOUT THE DECORUM DESIGNS
The motifs and patterns above were designed for my MFA thesis body of work, Decorum: The Devil Is In The Details. I have long been fascinated with patterns: their roles in society, their visual effects, their sources. Many patterns are composed of stylized versions of natural forms, abstract geometric designs, or pastoral, scenic narratives. The Decorum designs arose from an effort to create a new image language reflecting this particular time in American culture. Patterns of patterns, they are at once visual motifs created from daily human habits, personalized Rorschach crests, and pop design. These images betray a conflict of the American consumerist psyche.
